Anglicization of the Gaelic Coinneach or Cainnech, meaning "handsome and fiery".
In recent times, the name Kenneth has lost some of its integrity due to a character named Kenneth, played by Jack McBrayer, who is largely a buffoon on the show "30 Rock". Despite this oversight, Kenneth is generally a proud or confident man, usually of apparent Celtic and/or Germanic origins, who is as quick to temper as he is to celebrate. Traditionally, neither the anger nor the generosity of Kenneth may be understated, as both are defining characteristics.
In smaller circles, however, the word Kenneth is used as a pseudonym for an enforcer or someone of a similar type who uses intimidation tactics, physical or otherwise, to achieve a desired result. A Kenneth will sometimes work with a Matthew.
Scenario 1:
Man: Their representatives are standing firm at a twenty percent commission.
Boss: Send Kenneth in for the next round of negotiations. He'll help them see reason in lowering their rate.
Scenario 2:
Man: Once Kenneth came into the interrogation room, I just had to leave. All I know is that twenty minutes later, we had a signed statement and a grown man in tears.
With a Matthew:
Man: I don't know what's scarier: seeing Kenneth and Matthew in a dark alley or across a conference table. Those two guys can't be human with that kind of work.

A person, usually a fraternity guy that frequently knocks on sorority doors at all hours of the night. Kenneth is apt to: show up unannounced at any hour typically under heavy intoxication, wander around aimlessly in and out of rooms, lock himself in bathrooms, and generally cause antics that, while inappropriate, are generally hilarious and amusing.
"Omg Kenneth knocked on our door last night and woke me up!"
"Last night a guy stopped by drunk to use our bathroom. What a Kenneth!"
