a transgender

You're using it wrong! It's just transgender.

Cisgender : Yeah, so a transgender-
Transgender : It's just transgender. It's kinda transphobic to say that.. by saying that you imply we are anothe species.

transgendered

A broad term referring to any individual whose gender expression is different from their biological or genetic sex. It includes everything from a crossdresser who is happy with their birth sex to a transsexual having sexually reassignment surgery to become the opposite sex. It should be noted that being transgendered is not an indication of whether or not a person is gay.

Bill wears feminine clothes because he is transgendered.

Mary wears masucline clothes because she is transgendered.

transgender

an individual who does not identify with their assigned gender at birth.

this can include people who were assigned male at birth (afab) but align more with the female gender. these individuals are trans women. its can also go the other way around for trans men.

some people do not fit into the gender binary and can identify with something under the nonbinary umbrella. these people can be AFAB or AMAB. it doesnt matter

it is important to note that transgender is not its own gender. a trans man is still a man. same for trans women. just like a cis man is still a man.

(person 1) β€œhey mom, i think im transgender”
(mom of p 1) β€œwhats that?”
(person 1) β€œit means i dont align with my gender assigned at birth”
(mom of p 1) β€œthank you for telling me, i will always love and support you”

Transgender

Someone who does not identify with their assigned gender at birth. Some trans people are binary trans (either a man who was born with a female body or a woman who was born with a male body), while some are non-binary (not male or female). These identities can range from agender (having no gender at all), bigender (having 2 genders at once/fluctuating between the 2), genderfluid (fluctuating between different genders), or many other identities. Trans people usually experience gender incogruence, a feeling that your gender is not the same as your sex and you were assigned the wrong gender. Some trans people also experience gender dysphoria, a feeling of distress and hatred for your body because it doesn't match your gender identity. However, dysphoria isn't necessary to be trans. Trans people can use whatever pronouns they want, ranging from common ones like he/him, she/her, they/them and it/its, or neopronouns such as fae/faer or xe/xem, or even emojipronouns! Some trans people may want surgery and hormones, while some like their body as it is!

Transgender

A transgender is either a male with the body of a female (FtM), or, a female with the body of a male MtF). This means their gender is not determined by their genatalia. (Even though it's common to think that is the case, it never is.) A transgender has NOT undergone a gender change operation. Transgenders who do undergo a gender change operation will then become transsexuals. A transperson should always be referred to by their correct pronouns. In other words, do not call them by their biological gender, but rather what they identify as. A FtM should be called he/him/his, and a MtF should be called she/her/hers. Some transpeople have gender dysphoria. This means that they are extremely uncomfortable in their own skin. Some transpeople, on the other hand, are NOT gender dysphoric. This does not mean they are not transgender. Also, transpeople come to terms with their gender at different rates and in different ways. It doesn't make any difference whether a transperson decided they are transgendered at 4 years old or 60. Some may think they are just gay, or go as genderfluid / androgynous because they don't want to face the problems that come with being transgendered. Transgenders can be gay, lesbian, straight, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, or any other sexuality. Their sexuality is completely seperate from their gender.

Wyatt: I'm a MtF transgender.
Gage: Wow, really? My brother is FtM. We should all get together sometime.
