More commonly used in Scotland.

1)a form of petty thievery where the thief has a limited amount of time before he must flee the scene, and so maximizes this opportunity by breaking the glass of a storefront or display and grabbing as much loot as is possible in a single swoop. Often a shattered mess is what remains of the scene.
2)George W. Bush and Dick Cheney's Domestic and Foreign Policy. Substitute the words " the glass of a storefront or display" with either "Iraq,""The Planet," or "The American People."
1) The proprietors had it coming. They were just begging for a good ol' smash and grab.

The wrong way to hold a skateboard (by the trucks, with grip tape rubbing against your pants).
Typical of people who spend more time carrying their skateboard around the mall as a fashion accessory instead of actually riding it.
The poseur was easy to spot because their pants had been sanded down near the waist due to constant mall grabbing.

Receive mass email invite to someone's birthday party, whom I have not spoken to in a year. Tried to maintain contact or get together, but person too busy to get together, usually makes no effort. Told by friend when people who make no effort to call or stay in contact, but send out a mass birthday or shower e-vite, are gift grabbing.
Attend baby shower, mother to be barely acknowledges your presence, but happy to take the gift you spent your money on. Barely or does not say "thank you", receive a thank you note via email by the grandmother to be. Blatant gift grab.
