RPG speak

When playing an online text-based RPG, some people will post words that are obsolete or make no sense at all in place of other words because they can't come up with any other way to keep from using the same words over and over, and they think it makes themselves sound more sophisticated. Peer pressure is also a large factor, and people often get into the habit (as bad as it is) because "everybody else is doing it".

RPG speak usually winds up doing nothing but making their posts far more difficult to read.

Example of RPG speak:
The hellion's audits turned in the direction of the soon-to-be-made crime scene, and he ignited across the earth's facade. His projectiles pivoted, and his oculars turned, searching the landscape. Opening his maw he let loose a roar, then widened his paper thins to allow the essence on the wend waft inside. Suddenly he halted his skeleton, and flinging his tassels aside he rotated his harks once more, lowering his lids over his orbs as he listened, but to no avail.

speak of the devil

Someone appears after you mention them. "Speak of the Devil" is short for "Speak of the Devil and he shall come". It was believed that if you spoke about the Devil it would attract his attention. That's why when you're talking about someone and they show up people say "Speak of the Devil".

Used to describe the actions of someone unable to complete a full sentence in an online game or any other form of internet conversation. chatroom

Weak Speak

Language designed to distance. Use of language which absolves the speaker of any real responsibility. Language used so frequently (these days) by politicians and managers (in business, industry and almost everywhere else).

Call centre:
"Your complaint was actioned last week and if you don't adjust your tone I will be obliged to release the call".

Customer:
Cut the weak speak...just give me a straight answer.

rookie-speak

The act of talking about something, someone or a subject that the speaker knows little or nothing about as if they have great knowledge of it.

Jim dosen't know anything about women, anything he says is pure rookie-speak

Random words and names spoken in an effort to promote a sense of intelligence and creditability in the speaker. quoting an over abundance of names and references that are unverifiable in an effort to make you/your theory more creditable.

The strength of his argument was mere word speak.
