When wanting to pranks on Apprentices their co-workers will often send them to another location to fetch them a "Long Wait". The inexperienced Apprentice will actually believe he is getting a tool of some sort, but in the end will just come out looking like one.
It is an unspoken rule that if an apprentice comes to you looking for a Long Wait that you will tell them you'll be right back and leave them sit for at least ten minutes.
Apprentice: "Hi, the boss just sent me here to get them a long wait."
Kindly Stranger: "Sure, mate, just have a seat and I'll get it for you."
*15 minutes later
Kindly Stranger: "Go on kid, back to work you go..."

when an admissions rep says "you were almost good enough.." instead of growing a pair and denying you admission.

Common side effects include becoming impatient, having anxiety attacks, and just forgetting about it until you get an email six months later saying they have approved of it.

Jim: Nope, I gotta go through the Urban Wait.
(six months later)
Bob: Hey, did you get your definition published on Urban Dictionary yet?
Jim: Nope, still going through the Urban Wait. I JUST WANT THE DAMN THING PUBLISHED!

when mcdonalds, or any fast food place forgets about your order, and after you tell them, they compensate your lost time with an additional burger, for your wait
"Dude, i only ordered one, but since they forgot about my burger, they gave me a waiting burger too, now i have 2!!"
"Yo i thought you only ordered one"
"Yea but since i had to wait like 15 minutes the chick gave me a waiting burger too"
