New York City is like 1/2 shit hole and the other 1/2 is awsome. I'll give it places like time square central park and shit like that, but most of it is filled with traffic and mobs of people. The air smells like shit from all the car exaust. To some people it might be the greatest place in the U.S. or maybe even the world, but thats probably only because the only places they've ever been to there are like Brodway and Madison Square Garden. Some people just love NYC because september 11th happened and they've never even been there before. It's not like I don't care that that happened but that doesn't make NYC any better of a place. If your from NYC I respect you, NYC is just not for me.

For those who think normally, it is the geographical upper half of New York, containing 50% of the land area.
For idiots, it is anything in New York that isn't New York City, which contains over 99% of the total land area in the state.
Many people consider Westchester, NY to be part of upstate New York, but those people are idiots because the only places that are south of Westchester in New York are New York City and Long Island.

Any portion of New York State other than New York City and Long Island. Contains such "boring" things as the Finger Lakes, The Adirondak Mountains, large expanses of forest and farmland, a few relatively small cities, and numerous towns and villages of varying demographic levels. Not for those who have never left a city environment.

A horrifically boring place to live. The "line" between upstate New York and downstate New York is the point at which you believe the landscape becomes more rural than what you are used to, so various definitions exist.
You know how upstaters say there's more to New York than New York City? Well what the hell are they talking about?! I go to college at SUNY Binghamton and I swear, there is NOTHING HERE.

A city with REAL gangsters (Russian, Italian, Chinese etc) Mafias. Not as many stupid shitskin punks shooting each other over who is wearing blue or red.
A city so intellectually stimulating and exciting that it can incite even negoroes into creative writing such as early raps. But that has now degenerated like everything else by (non New York) negroes, into assanine pussy punk pigtail talk like Snoopy Dogg.
This 15 year old tourist went into this bar and New York, and probably could have got served. Cept he was an asshole and said to the bartender "Just give me a Manhattan, dickhead." The Bartender said "Yes sir!" Then the kid could get the drink someone wiped a big brown booger on the inside of the glass. The kid said "Hey what the fuck? WHAT IS THAT BROWN CLUMP OF SHIT FLOATING AT THE TOP?" He said "It must be Harlem, pussy boy!" Then everyone laughed profusioly at him.
Why does Harlem stand out as such an eyesore? Why else!

Best city in New York State people love to hate it especially the ones that live here who complain about living here but none of them can afford to leave and ignorant people think their not part of rochester because their in a neighborhood in rochester labeled something differently...... little italy is east rochester.... people hate on aquinas institute and say it's in a bad part of the city.... shut the heck up becuase it's not a bad part just some of the people look bad..... rochester consists of greece, brockport, gates, chili, victor, east rochester, henrietta, brighton churchville, spencerport, hamlin, hilton, pittsford, penfield, scottsville, and many more parts of rochester in monroe county.... stupid people that live in those part think their not a part of rochester for some reason... thats how stuck up people are..... great private schools
best private schools people hate on allendale columbia, harley school, our lady of mercy high, mcquaid.... especially aquinas institute and bishop kearney. GO Rochester, New York!!

ahem! Not all upstate New Yorkers are toothless hicks! Actually Upstate is a pretty nice place to live. The only place upstate with toothless hicks is Orange County, NY. ew they;re gross...but other than that Upstate NY kicks arse! ...O and if Upstate NY had nothing to offer, then how come people from the city flock here EVERY single weekend!! ..yeah..nothing to offer..pshh u guys cant get enough of us!
