A stiff hug is a type of hug where you only wrap one arm around the other person and your bodies touch from the side thus, giving minimal physical contact. The name comes from how your elbow should barely be bent so your arm appears stiff.
I wanted to hug that hot girl, but she gave me a stiff hug instead.
A light hug is a hug that's given to someone (typically a stranger or someone you feel uncomfortable with). A light hug can sometimes be given in an awkward situation as well. Light hugs can also be given to belittle someone, or show a higher class.
