A sub-genre of Hardcore punk. Mosh metal is characterized by drop-tuned guitars, excessive use of the e chord, simplistic song writing, and a harsh/beefy vocal style. The lyrical content often revolves around macho posturing, friendship, and straight edge. Bands that play this style of music include Hate Breed, Earth Crisis, Terror, Buried Alive, and Walls of Jericho.

a metal elitist is a person, typically an older metalhead guy or an incel teenage boy, who only listens to metal, likes to gatekeep metal, and will call you a poser if you like nu metal or popular metal bands. they are usually misogynistic and will call anything that doesnt fall under an extreme metal genre mid.
Me: “I like the bands Korn and Slipknot. I am also a fan of Metallica.”
Metal Elitist: “Theres no way you like that mallcore bullshit! All they do is sing about angst and dress like rappers! How could you possibly want to listen to a song where a man expresses his emotions? Poser!” *recommends you a black metal band that makes songs about killing jews*

A few typical bands would include, Dragonforce, Firewind, Turisas, Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Kamelot, Within Temptation etc. etc.
You could include bands like Amon Amarth, however the growling vocals & lack of keyboards sets these types of bands slightly apart.
With Quest Metal bands you tend to be able to actually hear the vocals and lyrics clearly, some use a more operatic style, choirs etc.
Growling vocals are less prominent.
Quest Metal can be any type of metal with at least 3 of the following:
- Historical (Generally Medieval) or Fantasy Themes
- lyrics which could be loosely described as "quest like"
Songs generally including 3 or more of the following subjects:
Warriors, Mythical beings, Maidens which may or may not require saving, Fighting, Battles, Power, Glory, Seas, Mountains, Fire, Ice, Rain, Gates and or their Keepers
- Predominantly Clean Vocals
- Fast Melodic Intstrumentation
- Use of Keyboards
