Adult recreational sport. Played for the passion of the game by men and women over 19 years old. The post game ritual of sitting around a cooler full of beer bullshitting about skill level or lack thereof is as important as the game itself. Sportsmanship, camaraderie and competion are the key elements.
Epitomized by the 1.2 million Canadian adults proud to be playing hockey in the beer leagues.
John - You play hockey?
Kelly - Yah, in the beer leagues

an amateur baseball or slow pitch softball league. derives its name due to the fact many of the players tend to be overweight and/or of below average physical condition, and consume massive quantities of beer.

An individual who played at a high level and for whatever reason decided not to continue competitively. The Beer League Demon is usually between the ages of 19 and 22, and now dominates the Beer League with little to no effort. Depending on attitude the Beer League Demon can either be laid back or the most insufferable douchebag, there is no in-between.
John: Hey Dave, what do you think of the new guy?
Dave: The kid is a real Beer League Demon
John: yeah I heard he played at the national level
