Call-Forward

A common stand-up comedian technique where a subject is casually mentioned in a story that they will build upon in a later bit. Call-forwards are used to transition from a subject to a seemingly unrelated subject by dropping subtle references so that the subject being switched to does not seem out of place.

The opposite of a Call-Back

"When ever Bill Burr does a Call-Forward statement about the elderly I know that I am about to hear a transition to a joke about old people dying"

"Son, as much as we appreciate your knowledge of urban diction. It's probably the last thing your grandfather wants to hear on his deathbed."

Calling You Forward

to be called forward is to hear an inner voice that demands that you take action

When you feel something is calling you forward, you know that Something is urging you, and to do so would be at your Soul's peril.

Called Forward

to be called forward is to hear an inner voice that demands that you take action

At that moment I felt called forward: , I heard that inner voice, and I knew to be true to myself I needed to answer the call and speak up to say out loud exactly was what was on my mind, that wasn't a joke. It wasn't funny - it was from a perspective of ignorance.
