Da Region

Northwest Indiana is known as "Da Region." It is the section of the Chicago metropolitan area that overflows past the Indiana border. The Region is a cultural "melting pot" creating a very diverse and unique place that is different by far than any other location in Indiana.

Northwest Indiana is comprised of Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton and Jasper counties in Indiana. This region neighbors Lake Michigan and is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Northwest Indiana is the state's second largest urban area after the Indianapolis metropolitan area.

There are some misinformation definitions of Da Region on here, so w saying it's only the Northwest corner of Lake County and that Porter and La Porte Counties are not. That is false as La Porte and Porter Counties along with all of Lake County are Da Region. Northern Lake County is the heaviest path of it but lots of industry along the lake in La Porte and Porter Counties.

La Porte County is the founder of Da Region. From 1832-1835 La Porte County existed and held jurisdiction over what is now Porter and Lake Counties. La Porte County Heads devised a plan for the areas that are Porter and Lake Counties.

Also, The Chicago Lake Plain, which covers the whole present day City of Chicago, covers most of Lake, Porter, and La Porte Counties. So, God created Da Region as Chicago.

Non-Resident of Da Region: What State are you from?
Da Region Resident: Northwest Indiana 😂

Non-Resident of Da Region: I see your State you are from is Indiana. Big Colts and Pacers fan I see

Da Region Resident: NO! Where I was born and raised in I could drive 5-10 minutes and see Chicago Skyline across Lake Michigan. To see Indianapolis Skyline I have to drive 3 hours. My teams are Chicago Bulls and Chicago Bears!
