Shortened name for the band Death Cab for Cutie. Formed in Bellingham, WA. Currently refer to Seattle, WA as their home. Known for their poppy songs mainly based on love and relationships and the ideas and situations that stem from those topics. Unfortunately Death Cab has been labeled largely as an emo band. While the line can be thin at times, this is not the case at all.
Band members are Christopher Walla (Guitar), Ben Gibbard (Lead Vocals, Writer), Nick Harmer (Bass), and Micheal Schorr (Drums). Albums include You Can Play These Songs with Chords (1997) Something About Airplanes (1999), We Have The Facts And We're Voting Yes (2000), The Photo Album (2001), Transatlanticism (2003), and Plans (2005). EPs include The Forbidden Love EP, Stability EP, Studio X Sessions EP, and The John Byrd EP.
Singles released so far include Stability from the Stability EP. A Movie Script Ending, We Laugh Indoors, and I was a Kaleidoscope from The Photo Album. The New Year, The Sound of Settling, and Title and Registration from Transatlanticism. Soul Meets Body, Crooked Teeth, and I Will Follow You into the Dark from Plans.

The short way of referring to a simply amazing band by the name of Death Cab For Cutie.
"I took cutie for a ride in my death cab
She tipped me with a kiss I dropped her off at the meth lab
Before she left she made a dashboard confessional
And spilled her guts in cursive but whats worse is
I could still see her bright eyes like sunny day real estate"

I took some death cab and listened to Death Cab for Cutie in my room for 7 hours.
Irony tastes great when you're on death cab.

when the voice of someone you have never seen suggests that the person is overwhelmingly physically attractive, only to find, once you actually see them, that their physical appearance is not necessarily their best attribute.
(Used mainly in reference to singers whom one hears sing before they actually see them).
Person 1: I googled that singer we heard on the radio.
Person 2: Is he as hot as he sounds?
Person 1: No, he totally death-cabbed us.

A wonderful young group singed by Barsuk records from the indie-rock homeland of Washington State. Name came from a psychedlic song from the 60's.
Not emo. Unfortunately, if you write lyrics that are borderline depressing you get labeled "emo" when their music is more in line with other bands of that areas like Modest Mouse, and even The Shins.
Easily one of the greatest bands today.
Emo? Please. Bright Eyes sounds even less emo these days.
