a phrase coined after Dale Earnhardt, regarded as one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history. Dale had a very aggressive and controversial driving style, often bumping other cars to get them out of his way.
On February 18, 2001, Earnhardt was killed in a three-car crash on the final lap of the Daytona 500. To date, one of the worst and tragedies in the sport. After this race safety in the sport was made top priority which people have said led to the decline of popularity.
Recently, the sport has gained more attraction due to a Youtuber who goes by the alias Cleetus McFarland. His behaviour is associated with driving aggressively and hooning for dale while saying "Do it for Dale".
