Inflating someone's ego by complimenting them gratuitously, thereby altering their personality to that of an ass and directing their life into a downward spiral from which they will not recover.

Todd: You're just awesome, Steve. I could never match your awesomeness.
Steve: Why, thanks. I guess I am awesome.
Todd: And I'm not just saying that out of ego terrorism.
Steve: Ah, then I'll take your words to heart. I genuinely am better than other people.
(years pass)
Steve: WHY DO THEY ALL HATE ME?!
Steve: (cuts wrists)
(minutes pass)
Todd: That'll serve you right, it will.
Todd: (spits on corpse)
