Electric Ceiling

The prohibitive inability to interface competently with digital and electronic devices, typically but not always associated with the pre-digital native generation; often erroneously attributed to pre-millennials.

Not necessarily dependent on age, but manifests more obviously in a generation unfamiliar with electronic devices. Symptoms of the digital ceiling extent beyond computer literacy and competency, into institutional and attitudinal deficits toward technology; companies that do not recognize the threats and advantages of the digital world.

Someone that has hit the 'electric ceiling' is said to be limited by a profound lack of capacity regarding understanding technology, and it's implementation. They are superseded by a generation of people with an intuitive comprehension of computers and technical aptitude.

The world is currently entering a phase wherein digital natives (having come of age) are assuming key positions; which serves to magnify the effects of the 'Electric ceiling' among their counterparts.

"We struggling to overcome to the electric ceiling in persuading the board to take Cyber Security seriously, they don't realize the implications of potential data breaches"

"I tried to teach my mom how to use the DVR, but she hit the electric ceiling a long time ago"
