A monstrous problem that is not addressed or solved, due to a toxic combination of greed, recklessness, carelessness, short-sightedness, lack of oversight, and/or lack of leadership.

The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is rapidly becoming Gulfzilla, exceeding even pessimistic assessments of the damage it'll do to the region.
