major major

A term coined by Venus Raj, as first heard during the question and answer portion of the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant.

It comes from the root word "bonggang bongga", a term commonly used in Filipino gayspeak, which means "extravagantly extravagant", "outlandishly outlandish", or "exuberantly exuberant".

"It's not a major major mistake, unless you say it in national television."

William Baldwin: "What's the biggest mistake that you've made in your life and what did you do to make it right?"

Venus: "You know what, Sir, in my 22 years of existence, I can say that there's nothing major major problem that I've done in my life because I'm very confident with my family, with the love that they are giving to me. So thank you so much that I'm here. Thank you, thank you so much!"

major-major

A Filipino slang for huge / enormous or immense. (c. 2010)

This was taken from the common trait of the language of Filipino or some south east asians which repeats the adjective to make it more intense.

literal tagalog translation: malaking-malaki (huge)

In my years of existence in this world, i have not yet encountered one major-major problem in my life, and I thank God for that.

Filipino translation:
Sa mga taon kong inilagi sa mundo, hindi pa ako nakakaranas ng malaking-malaking suliranin sa buhay at ito'y aking ipinagpapasalat sa Panginoong Diyos.
