This term was coined after a popular (and equally notorious) YouTube celebrity Mathew Patrick, as he's main content relies upon comparing everything to a handful of video games that he milked dry for possible hidden meanings back in his heyday.

The overuse of a figure/person in a image in which it makes the original source image look like it was edited in.
The name comes from the YouTuber MatPat, when people realized that the image that he uses of his real life self looks edited in the source photo, due to the amount of times he used a transparent image of himself.
Have you seen the original photo of the meme "Cheems"? It looks like a case of MatPat Syndrome.
MatPat Syndrome is the fear of youtubers quitting, whenever you see titles like 'we need to talk' or 'the future of my channel' in youtube. It is a fear instilled by the popular youtuber MatPat who recently quit, or other idols of yours.
