NYU Tandon is the school of engineering and applied science at New York University and is one of the highly ranked engineering programs in the nation. It is the second oldest private school of engineering and technology in the United States. The school's main campus is in Brooklyn's MetroTech Center, an urban academic-industrial research park.
It is one of several engineering schools that were founded based on a European polytechnic university model in the 1800s, in response to the increasing industrialization of the United States. It has been a key center of research in the development of microwave, wireless, radar, electronics in general, polymers, industrial engineering and operations research and the US space program.
The school dates back to 1854 when its predecessor institutions, the University of the City of New York School of Civil Engineering and Architecture and the Brooklyn Collegiate and Polytechnic Institute, were founded. The school was renamed in 2015 in honor of NYU Trustees Chandrika and Ranjan Tandon following their donation of $100 million to the school.
Its past and present graduates and faculty include Nobel Prize winners, National Medals for Science, Technology and Innovation winners, astronauts, Russ Prize, IEEE Edison Medal, Turing Award, Gordon Prize and Draper Prize winners and over 100 of National Academy of Engineering members.

A degree mill that used to be called 'Poly' or the 'Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn' which had a 75% acceptance rate in 2012. It used to be cheap school until it got bought out by NYU. Now it's a real estate and land owned by NYU that disguised as a educational institution.
NYU Tandon increased the tuition several folds while the teaching quality and facility are still at a low-tier.
After a rich Indian donated big bucks to the school and it got renamed to Tandon.
The student demographics of this school hasn't changed. Lazy lackluster, gamers, kids who should've went to community college first, etc.
Now NYU Tandon is regarded as a back-door option to get into NYU.
There has been an increase in kids that aren't interested in engineering but are desparate for the NYU brand so they use NYU Tandon as a backdoor to NYU. Thus the quality continues to decrease.
NYU Tandon is one of the few engineering schools where engineering students are the worst quality students compared to the rest of NYU.
HS kid A: Yo dude what school you goin to?
HS kid B: Dude, I'm going to NYU?
HS kid A: Oh sick dude, which school.

HS kid B: Yea I know but at least I can fool some people and say 'I went to NYU'
