Nob It Off:

1. Verb: Nob it off (to nob it off):

a. The act of and or participation in nobbing about/having a laugh (you should have come to the party last night mate, we were really nobbing it off);

b. To perform vigourosly and to seem succesful with ease (you should've seen him thwack that footie ball, he proper nobbed it off);

c. To perform half-heartedly and with one's mind not on the job (he couldn't be bothered plastering that wall properly, I mean, he just came in, nobbed it off, and went again);

d. To ruin or break something (Our song was sounding really nice until we nobbed it off);

e. A state of unbounded agony, often involving screaming, groaning and whining;

f. To act in a boorish and ungentlemanly manner, like a football hooligan or city banker.

2. Noun: Nob-it-off; Nobitoff; (a nobitoff, these nobitoffs):

Any boorish and ungentlemanly character ie. football hooligan or banker (I saw this right bunch of nobitoffs coming down the street and they started shouting at me and it was scary and I didn't like it).

Origins: Attributed to the great linguist and etymologist Phillip Edward Johnson currently based at the Cook Foundation, London.
