Noun: “A discount or special accommodation one expects and/or receives for being a member of a defined group.”

Examples include: (but not limited to) police, crossing guards, fire, military, seniors, ems, healthcare workers, pregnant women, or any other demographic whereby it is fashionable for an organization to virtue signal fawning over “heroes” or other “protected groups.”

1) Fast food employee: “that’s $3.49 sir.”

Patron: “did you apply my ‘first responders’ discount?’”

Fast food employee (to customer)“oh yes sir, that’s now $3.45. Have a great day.”

Fast food employee (to themself): “sure here’s your participation trophy discount 🙄🤦 ♂️“

2) Airline gate agent: “we’d like to start our boarding process by inviting all military personnel, let’s give ‘em a hand folks (makes spectacle)!!

Everyone else (including military personnel not wanting to participate in said spectacle): “geez it’s called a ‘job’ not a ‘participation trophy (discount)’ 🙄”

3) Girl in car: “The parking lot is full today.”

Friend in car: “Yeah some asshole parked in one of the 20 “expectant mother” spots.

4) Meal Team 6 guy: “what no ‘veterans’ parking for my big ass truck?!!! That’s bullshit; I need to speak to your manager!!”

5) Friend 1: “did you see that video on social media where a hippopotamus crushed a watermelon?”

Friend 2: “no I never got past all the healthcare hero vax ads 🙄”
