platonic love

A romantic bond between a couple that involves no lust or carnality; often a deep pure love.

Its symbol would be the white rose.

Platonic love is rare, hardly known or acknowledged amidst the rapid pornification of today's world.

platonic love

An emotional and spiritual relationship between a couple that does not involve sexual desire. A working platonic relationship is mighty rare these days.

Platonic love is wonderful. Unfortunately, today's sex-crazed culture has driven it to near extinction.

Platonic Love

Also known as, Platonic relationship.

In simpler terms a love or special kind of attraction that is beyond physical or carnal desire. Unlike unrequited love or being 'friend zoned', in a Platonic relationship both are usually aware and acknowledge the desires they have for one another but this does not manifest in typical romancing or courtship usually out of fear of rejection, personal inadequacy or even principles, thus remain ambiguous. Platonic love may bloom into a full fledged relationship or fade to obscurity.

#1 Special Agent Fox Mulder and Dana Scully of the X-Files TV series although this relationship becomes romantic later on to the dismay of many fans who felt it killed the thrill.

#2 Beauty and the Beast

#3 Peter Pan and Wendy Darling

#4 Hamlet and Horatio in Shakespeare's Hamlet

#5 Travis Bickle in the movie, Taxi Driver

#6 Leon in Leon: The Professional although some might see this as pedophilic because of the characters' age gap, the relationship between gun-for-hire Leon and the 12-year old Mathilda is a good example of Platonic love.

#7 Psycho 2. Norman Bates and Mary Loomis, although Mary's feelings for Norman might be out of pity as Norman Bates falls back to his insanity.

Think of the song, "Somethin' Stupid" as an anthem to Platonic Love.
