procrasticleaning

The urge to clean one's room, bathroom, or workspace fully knowing that something far more important must be done in the near future because "it needed to be cleaned." Usually occurs just before studying for a big test, writing a paper, or beginning some other undesirable yet significant task. Often justified by rationalizing, "at least I'm not being lazy."

I know I've gotta study for my math midterm on Wednesday, but I couldn't possibly do it in a messy room - looks like it's time for some procrasticleaning.

Procrasticlean

When you use cleaning as a procrastination tool of choice.

Person 1: Hey man what are you doing?
Person 2: I'm cleaning.
Person 1: Don't you have a physics final tomorrow?
Person 2: Yeah. I don't want to study yet so I'm procrasticleaning.

Procrasticleaning

(Verb)

The act of avoiding important tasks or responsibilities by cleaning and organizing one's living space, often resulting in a false sense of productivity and an even longer to-do list.

"I know I have a big project due tomorrow, but instead of working on it, I've been procrasticleaning my entire apartment. At least my closet looks great now!"
