Schmatta

An old Yiddish word for clothing, or rags.

He's completely meshuga - all he wants to do is peddle schmatta's! But he's making the shekels I tell you!

Schmatta Gauntlet

A narrow walkway surrounded by merchants hawking cheap souvenirs, as frequently experienced when disembarking a cruise ship in a popular tourist port.

So I got off the ship to take a nice walk, but first, Oy!, had to survive the schmatta gauntlet!
