six-foot hamster

"Six-foot hamster" was invented ca. 1964 to describe a very ordinary male human, too carefully dressed in a cheap business suit, occupying a position of public contact though lacking in communications skills. Examples: Bank teller in training, Wal-Mart greeter, domestic religious missionary, White House press spokesman.
