ultimate fighting

a common misconception for the sport of mixed martial arts as the front runner is the ultimate fighting championchips this term came about when the ultimate fighter series aired causing many people who dont know about the sport to call the sport as a whole ultimate fighting when its really mixed martial arts. this is an easy way to tell who knows about the sport and who is a "tuf noob" a common way to tell is someone who wears tapout from hottopic and refers to fighters by their nicknames and calls them ultimate fighters

jim-dude did you see the ultimate fighting last night iceman lidell got knocked out by rampage jackson it was sick
tyler-wow your idiot its called mixed martial arts and chuck leaves his hands around his waist
jim-are you sure i think its called ultimate fighting
tyler- wow you really are a tuf noob

Ultimate Fighting Championship

Better known simply by its initials (UFC) is as of right now the premier Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organization in the world. It has slowly replaced boxing as the preferred combat sport in the United States (Boxing still remains more recognized worldwide).

The UFC has become a cultural phenomenon and has therefore become associated & attracted many undesirables.

1. UFC only fans are known as being very loud, stupid & opinionated.

2. The attire of choice is made out of highly ridiculous skull, bones & tribal designs. Some of the designs even resemble the eagle and iron cross as was used by the Nazi party.
3. Even though the UFC is the organization and Mixed Martial Arts is the sport the embodiment of Martial Arts is rarely seen or present as the major emphasis is on the entertainment aspect of things (Trash talk, nonsensical hyperboles, in your face attitudes & tired out catchphrases are the norm just as on professional wrestling).

Mixed Martial Arts as it was in Japan with the PRIDE organization was more closely associated with glory, perseverance and the samurai spirit. The UFC has shown during its broadcasts to be more about the business, entertainment & marketing side of it.

What does the UFC stand for?

It stands for the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Ultimate Fighting Championship

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is the largest mixed martial arts promotion company in the world featuring most of the top-ranked fighters in the sport. Based in the United States, the UFC produces events worldwide. The organization showcases nine weight divisions and enforces the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts. The UFC promotes a brand of MMA which is self-acknowledged as "not just a sporting event; it is also entertainment and theater. The fighters are athletes and performers both." The UFC has held over 250 events to date. Dana White serves as the president of the UFC while brothers Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta control the UFC's parent company, Zuffa, LLC.

The first Ultimate Fighting Championship event was held on November 12, 1993 in Denver, Colorado. The purpose of the early UFC competitions was to identify the most effective martial art in a real fight between competitors of different fighting disciplines, including Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Sambo, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Karate, Judo, and other styles. In subsequent competitions, fighters began adopting effective techniques from more than one discipline, which indirectly helped create an entirely separate style of fighting known as present-day mixed martial arts.

Ultimate Stick Fighting

Beating random ninjas senseless with plastic golf club separators. It makes the most horrible noise imaginable but creates very little pain. It begun with one dude grabbing a golf club separator while walking through sporting goods and smacking his bud, resulting in a tremendous noise and much laughter and enjoyment.

Dude, let's ultimate stick fight! ::smack:: SWEET!
