Birthday Rule

1.The undisputed privilege for someone to ask unreasonable favors of his/her friends on one's birthday. The term seemed to have originated from the right to automatic shotgun on one's birthday but is also applicable in many different scenarios that may include: doing their laundry, driving them around, being their wingman and paying for food.

While the birthday guy may end up looking like a huge douche, the privilege only lasts a day so the other friends can deal with it until their birthday comes around.

2. In rare cases, the term "Birthday Rule" has also been used to satirically justify everyday asshole-ish behavior. This is not quite like the first use of Birthday Rule because the asshole-ish behavior occurred when it wasn't the guy's/girl's birthday.

1. (two friends buying lunch)
Cashier: "That'll be $10.45"
Friend One: "Dude, I can you spot me?"
Friend Two: "Ten Bucks? are you kidding me?!"
Friend One: "C'mon, it's my birthday... BIRTHDAY RULE"
Friend Two: "Ughhh, okay then..."

2. (two friends eating lunch at table)

Friend One: (starring at Friend Two's fries) "Hey Friend Two, look over there"
Friend Two: (cluelessly) "Whaaaa?"
Friend One steals the rest of Friend Two's Fries while he wasn't looking
Friend Two: "You jerk!"
Friend One: "Dude chill, Birthday Rule"
Friend Two: "It's not even your birthday!"

4 day birthday rule

Rule that only applies to your closest bestest friends and gives them the power to bestow their birthday wishes not on your big day but within 4 days of you being born.

E.g. Hey Kate, couldn't wish you on your day but am calling now - I invoke the 4 day birthday rule.

birthday wish rule

the belief that telling someone what you wished for won't come true. similar to when you wish for something on your birthday before you blow out your candles, and you can't tell anyone what you wished for because it won't come true.

the birthday wish rule applies mostly to the law of attraction.

teacher: "what are you planning to do after high school?"

intellectual student: "if it tell you, it won't come true. birthday wish rule. sorry not sorry."

in this situation, the teacher could end up being a mean person and try to use your aspirations against you. for example, if you want to be a famous pop star, they might bully you and make you lose hope, telling you that you'll never amount to anything. of course, they could also be supportive and become a day one. it's up to you. it may involve risk, but it's up to you. always.

to fail and grow is not something you might always want to avoid.

much love !! hadn't seen this word anywhere so decided to create it :)

the birthday rule that everyone knows

The rule stating that if you are dating someone or "talking" to that person, you cannot make them choose any plans for future engagements within 10 days of their actual birthday. UNLESS that person requests to make the plans. All other plans must be made by the person whose birthday is not within 10 days.

Dylan: Caroline, you have to make the plans for what we do tomorrow.
Caroline: No I don't you ginger, my birthday is in 8 days and its the birthday rule that everyone knows.
