Britsplaining

A post-colonialist mindset which makes British people mistake the global spread of their language as the global acceptance of their lifestyle.

It is a consequence of ethnocentrism: (evaluation of other cultures according to preconceptions originating in the standards and customs of one's own culture).
Example: in an international working environment, during a meeting, British native speakers explain “how things work” to colleagues from other countries.

British native management person: “You should rather have answered I AM NOT SURE to our client instead of Saying no”.

Colleague: “Thank you so much for the britsplaining. The client is French and I am Turkish and we perfectly understand each other”.

Britsplaining

When someone from another culture, usually an American, believes they know British culture better than British people because they've watched Harry Potter/Downton Abbey/Peaky Blinders/Derry Girls.

Seppo: It's 4 o'clock, shouldn't you be taking your afternoon tea?
Brit: Stop with the Britsplaining already.
