Noun, from the words "kakampi" or ally and the color pink. It is a volunteer-driven collective of civic-minded Filipinos spontaneously formed in support of the Philippines' Vice President Leonor Robredo's bid for the presidency during the 2022 May elections. Pink was the official color of Robredo's campaign. Although she lost in the elections, the Kakampinks has organized into a nationwide social movement called Angat Buhay (lit translation: "Uplift Lives") that vows to continue Robredo's public service and good governance advocacies and to fight disinformation on social media.
Robredo's miting de avance, ahead of the May 9, 2022 elections, gathered 780,000 Kakampinks in Makati City.

A term used by supporters of then Vice President Leni Robredo helped build a people-powered presidential campaign in 2022. "Kakampink" is the combination of 2 words -- "kakampi" in Filipino which means "teammate" or "on our side", and "pink" which is the common color used by the first Leni supporters to denote gentleness, humility, and woman. (Leni was the only female among the 10 presidential candidates.) As more supporters latched on to the color pink, Leni's campaign team decided to follow the supporters' lead and carry the "pink" theme. The unifying color broke into a swell of creative ways to promote and campaign VP Leni as President and for her slate. The term "Kakampink" is a very positive term used proudly by supporters of VP Leni to refer to themselves. But supporters of the winning presidential candidate, and the past president (mainly their communications strategists, some influencers, and trolls) have constantly been trying to allude to a negative connotation of the term.
I am proud to be a kakampink among so many others, even though the results of the election count went to another candidate.
