let the side down

To perform not as well as expected, to let down.

The team practised a lot before the game, 'cause they didn't want to let the side down.

Let the side down

WASP approved apology for when you're confronted with allegations of sexual misconduct with an underage person. When faced with undeniable evidence such as a photo the key is to always deny (preferably by way of a categorical denial), and say that it can't be you in the photo because you don't sweat. Easy peasy. Saying you "let the side down" is just an admission of guilt for the feelings others feel towards you, so just go on being you champ!

"Why are the FBI still calling me, I admitted I let the side down..." -Prince Andrew, totally understanding that a request for info from a foreign law enforcement agency is something one can just deny with no issue, similar to declining to partake in a birthday party.
