An act of someone suddenly killed in broad daylight and in full public view by government's officials/assassins, usually because he/she has been confirmed to do one or more criminal acts but found not guilty in the court or gets away with it. The criminal act can range from a serious one (like mass murder) to a petty one (like bread theft).
The word "petrused" comes from Indonesian word "petrus". It stands for "penembak misterius", that means "mysterious shooter". Petrused basically a public assassination by a government of that country to fix a failed or corrupted justice system using a brute force method.

Not to confuse petrused with assassination attempts to erase political rivals. Petrused, although most of the times is an overkill and unnecessary act, it's purpose is to punish a legit criminals.
