Pocket Decline

A pocket decline is the act of letting a friend request, on a social networking website, expire in your inbox. This is usually done in order to prevent someone you don't like from being your friend on said social networking website without offending them.

The phrase "pocket decline" is derived from the phrase pocket veto, where a lawmaker (with veto power) to allow a bill to expire by not signing it, but also not rejecting it, in order to save face.

Person A: Hey dude. Brittany sent me a friend request on Facebook, so...
Person B: You mean, stalker Brittany?
Person A: Yeah... I think I'm going to let this one pocket decline... She might try to kill me in my sleep otherwise.
Person B:...Yeah.
