A euphemistic term invented by corporations to get around having to tell you that your assets are now worthless.

"Hello, Orbitz? Yeah, I missed my flight."
"Okay, sir, then your ticket is now pro-rated."
"Pro-rated? Does that mean I get first class?"
"No, it means your ticket isn't worth dick."
