Ok so it basically means you got tricked into thinking you would watch a good or bad vid. People do this because well the singer of this was kind of off key i guess. But i personally like this song.

Originally, to trick someone into watching the extremely catchy "Never Gonna Give You Up" music video by the genius Rick Astley with a fake link (usually with the promise of an exclusive video).
Now used in a more general sense, for any sort of deception or trick.
"I asked for the newest Halo trailer and all I got was the Rickroll video."

a video on you tube or another type of video source with a title that people will definitely click on. This will get the user plenty of views. Like new Lil Wayne, PS4, touchscreen psp, New Soulja Boy Dance, brand new cell phone, etc. Then about 5 seconds later a video comes on with some white guy singing (not 1/2 bad) which gets annoying as hell.
I was searching for new Lil Wayne and got Rick Rolled multiple times today.
