spool up

Refering to when a car is producing enough exhaust to spin the the turbochargers turbine fast enough to create noticeable boost.

My GT30R turbo spool up at about 4,500 RPM.

Air Traffic Control term. To spool up is to mentally prepare for busy traffic.

Hey Doc, better spool up, here comes the arrival rush.

1.to have an increase in adrenaline ready to fight

2.to rev the engine higher than normal
