The act of protesting and ban a form of media due to it being offensive but in doing so generating far more publicity for it and therefore making it more popular. similar to what happened to Monty Pythons "The life of Brian" in the late 70's by offended Christians.

Person 1: Yeah, I had not even heard of it until I stumbled across the petition to ban it
person 2: yep, that the Life of Brian effect
the effect is being racist, homophobic, xenophobic, sexist or overall making edgy jokes in a conversation with someone
it is an effect that occurs when hanging out with brian a lot
