1. To be careful not to offend.

2. To sneak around like there's not a problem.

As if one is on the tips of their toes moving quietly around a problem to not have to deal with it.

I don't want tiptoe around this anymore. Let's be honest Carol, I like you as a friend but you're kinda a dick when guys are around.
