up your alley

Means, "right in line with your tastes and/or abilities."

Sometimes "down your alley." Means the same thing.

No connection with "up your (anything else)."

right up your alley

1) something you are proficient at and capable of doing
2) a social class that you don't belong to but whose members you associate with anyways, probably f-sag

in terms of both definitions 1 and 2, if you are in jail for issues of domestic violence and misogynistic assault, who says says something more serious, like rape and murder, can't be right up your alley as well?
