The Employee Half-Life of a workplace is the amount of time it takes for half of a new batch of employees to quit.
An EHL of less than three months is generally regarded as a bad sign in business.
When I first joined Acme Industries, there were five other new employees with me. After about six weeks, only three of us remained, including myself. So Acme Industries has an Employee Half-Life of about six weeks.
A giant pickup truck or SUV that’s so tall and heavy that most impacts, especially those involving children, will result in fatality. On a normal car, if it hits you, you can usually roll onto the hood and off the side because the top of the hood is 2 feet off the ground. A kiddie squisher is typically 5 feet off the ground, so that’s not an option, so your only option is to go forward and onto the ground, which is much more dangerous.
On top of that, the hood obstructs your vision because of its sheer size, the car is difficult to turn, and the sheer weight of the car makes it slow to stop, so avoiding obstacles is difficult in a kiddie squisher.
Anyone who drives a kiddie squisher like a Ford F-150 or a Chevy Silverado is clearly compensating for something.
According to online lore are a number of “pills” (outlooks on life) out there for men, to take, including:
-Blue Pill (thinking life will get better even if you don’t do anything to change. You’ll get a girlfriend, a good job, and a joyful life without having to change a bit)
-Red Pill (realizing that none of the above will happen unless you make some serious changes in life- start working out, eat healthier, learn to do better at work, quit watching porn or using drugs, etc…)
-Black Pill (realizing that the world is inherently rigged against young men and there’s nothing you can do about it)
-Pink Pill (thinking that the world is so rigged against men that the only way forward is to transition)
Finally, there’s the Gold Pill. The most beautiful and spiritually freeing of them all. The Gold Pill says that there will be many harsh challenges ahead, but you’ll be able to overcome them because God is with you and on your side. So you need not be afraid, because when the time comes, you’ll have the strength you need to carry the day.
Robert: Eric, have you been ok? I know it’s been rough, dealing with losing your job and your girlfriend all in the same week.
Eric: It’s been tough. But I just keep reminding myself. In the end, we win.
Robert: Wow, based and goldpilled.
The fact that 5'11 is seen as short, but someone who is 6 feet tall is seen as tall.
The 5'11'' stigma in action
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anthony, who is 5'11'': Hey Beth wanna go out sometime?
Beth: No way, short stack.
Charles, who is 6': Sup, Beth, interested in a date?
Beth: Wow, you're like a giraffe! 7:00 good?
Anthony: The 5'11'' stigma is a real bitch.
A description of what remains of one’s mind after slogging through excessive work, living on low sleep or poor nutrition, or dealing other people’s bullshit.
Wow, I did nothing but grind on schoolwork from August to December. My last two brain cells are going to play some Minecraft.
My last two brain cells are running on Chicken McNuggets for breakfast and 3 hours of sleep, so I probably won’t be able to finish the report by the deadline.
My boss whines every day about how lazy I am, even though I work 80 hours a week. My last two brain cells are not cut out for this shit.
Much like a stroad is a street and a road combined into an unholy abomination, a strighway is a street and a highway combined into something even worse.
In other words, it has businesses on either side like a street, but heavy high speed traffic like a highway. It’s not effective as a street because of the intense car traffic and poor walkability, nor is it effective as a highway because of the density of exits and people getting off.
Features of a strighway include giant strip malls on either side featuring supermarkets and chain restaurants, 5-lane main roads with 2-lane frontage/access roads on either side, billboards for injury lawyers, and interchanges with other strighways that are impossible to navigate.
Examples of strighways include the Katy Expressway near Houston, I-35 through San Antonio/Austin, and George Bush Turnpike in DFW. There are also strighways outside of Texas, like the Jersey Turnpike, but they’re most prominent in Texas.
It means simply not doing shit you’re not paid to do at work, or refusing to do the job of two people when you’re only paid for one.
Act your wage at work. Don’t exhaust yourself over shit you’re not paid for. Don’t take unpaid overtime. Get comfortable telling your boss no, and unionize, unionize, unionize!
