Black Lives Matter. A movement by black American (as well as allies of all races) to highlight and fight racial injustice in the United States. The most glaring contemporary manifestation of this injustice is disproportionate unjustified police brutality against black people (of all genders, ages, sexual orientation, etc), which gives the sense that the lives of black Americans are not important as everyone else. That's why the movement is so named, and not (contrary the ludicrous popular belief) that BLM seeks to make black lives above others.
John: I'm going to the BLM protest tomorrow. Do you wanna join me?
Jane: Nah, I believe all lives matter.
John: Which is why you should be supporting those whose lives seemingly don't.
