When someone reads someone's text, but does not reply.
Kayla: Have you talked to Brittany?
Pam: Yeah, 5 minutes ago.
Kayla: Wow. I was left on read by her an hour ago.
When you text someone, they see it, but they dont text back.
"Damn, she saw the message and didn't respond back"
"Damn niggggga, you got left on read!!"
To read a massage (typically a text or on a messenger app that signals the sender when the message is seen or "read"), knowing the sender is aware that you've seen the message, and to not respond.
While the term was invented in 2016, the action was first perpetrated, pre-Internet, by Shepherd, who in on February 17, 1996, received a written message in person, and still refused to respond. If he ever responded is still unclear.

When an individual whom you’ve sent a message/snap to, opens the message knowing full well that you can see that they have and then chooses not to reply. A particularly obnoxious thing to do if the message deemed an answer
