Unlike most bots on TikTok, in late May these bots and their TikToks quickly became extremely popular. One video, in which a woman dissolves a cockroach in acid, was distinctly popular. The previously mentioned extreme bizarreness, as well as the 'humorously' poor-quality English text in the videos proved to be perfect for virality. In response, many satirical accounts were made, imitating and often exaggerating their videos. The Chinese Pop-songs which were often used in the original bot-videos were also used in the imitation TikToks. The song 'Scent of Wild Flowers' (野花香) by DJ He Peng (何鹏). became particularly popular, having over 8000 videos made with the sound. Not too long after they gained popularity, all original bot accounts were removed from TikTok, leaving just the satirical accounts. Jiafei parody product videos usually included very demeaning, passive-aggressive language and ironically used emojis, such as this one where is said: "ACCIDENTALLY dropping your fucking soup ? 😱🤭 Don't worry and use this to clean your bitchy floor. 🥶🥰😍". Jiafei accounts were consistently popular on TikTok ever since their creation, but they experienced peak popularity in late May and early June. In August, Jiafei TikToks unexpectedly experienced a surge in popularity.

In May of 2021 the social media platform TikTok was overrun by Chinese bot accounts migrating from DouYin, the seperate Chinese version of Tiktok, to Western TikTok. Said bots would repost videos advertising household products with popular sounds from DouYin. Very bizarre things, such as having strange, out of place animals were present in videos to capture the attention of the viewer. The captions of these videos would ask viewers to click IP-grabbing links in their bios to buy the products. The accounts would often also randomly like comments.
