A type of relationship involving fraternal polyandry. It was practiced was by Ezhava community of Kerala to prevent the split of male property since they followed patrilineal inheritance. The brothers marry a single girl at the same function and take turns to copulate at night.
Example : The Pandavavicharam ceremony conducted by that Ezhava family seemed every unique to foreign observers.
Adhyaratri Avakasham is a one-time sexual relationship which was followed by Avarna women of Kerala and their Savarna landlords / owners. The Avarna Ezhava husband sends his newlywed wife with a pot of liquor to the outhouse of the Savarna landlord. After deflowering ceremony the woman is sent back and the outhouse is purified with Brahmanical rituals.
Eg: Ezhava women were historically exploited by landlord men via the custom of Adhyaratri Avakasham
