Instrument Flight Rules
The Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) are a set of rules for flights where it can not be assumed that pilots will be able to navigate their aircraft or maintain separation from obstacles, terrain, and other aircraft by reference to features outside the cockpit.
All flights which take place in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) must be conducted in accordance with the Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). However, flight under the Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) may also be conducted under Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC).
Looks like the weather forecast is predicting IMC over the airfield tomorrow. We better change our flight plan from VFR to IFR for tomorrow's flight.
