FFT

Fast Fourier Transform
A shitload of maths that turns a squiggly line into another, usually far more complicated, squiggly line. Used in radiology, electronics, telecommunications, general mathematics, physics, sound editing, composing, photography and video editing, as well as more, niche, use cases.

A spectrum or spectrograph in most modern software is usually the result of an FFT algorithm.

Michael: How can I get the spectrum of this signal?
Josh: Hit the FFT button
Michael: Ah right the Fast Fourier Transform! Thanks!
