This would be when someone squeezes off a hay-maker with a pungent, show-stopping odor, yet is undetected phonetically. It creates a tremendous hang time and silently sneaks up on it's unsuspecting victims.

Cut the grinnin and drop the linen would be a situation between a man and a woman when they are about to embark on a sexual escapade, but it hasn't quite happened. In those waning moments before it starts, quite possibly over drinks. Then, it's hammer time.
