An outing, specifically a picnic, which takes place in an extremely public area. This area is more often than not exposed to a large amount of traffic from pedestrians and automobiles. People participate purposefully, often waving amiably to strangers and cars that pass by.

Yesterday, my friends and I had a Brooklyn Picnic and just waved to cars that passed by while playing frisbee 3 feet from the road.
