hook

A catchy phrase, sentence, or idea that usually occurs at the beginning of something, designed to draw people in. Example: "What can you learn from a one-year-old? If that one-year-old is Martha, your guide and expert through this training experience, quite a lot!"

I really like the hook you used in the first sentence of the email to draw people in.
