comfort food

A completely vague term that means nothing, but can be, and is, applied to just about anything you put in your mouth. Used by restaurants as a buzz word to make you think that they will heal you instead of just feeding you.

"A potato is a comfort food? What's comforting about a stupid potato?"

woolery

An adjective meaning "scatter-brained, not quite right in the head." Derived from game-show host Chuck Woolery.

"He used to be sensible, but he's gotten woolery with age."

inner city

Logically, the "inner city" would be 5th Avenue where Trump Tower is, which is as "inner" as it gets. But it actually refers to the ghetto, even if the ghetto is on the outskirts and nowhere near the center of the city. It's a way of reinforcing the racist perception that "city=crime=black people."

"Don't go all the way out to Yonkers. It's the inner city."

country matters

Sexual relations. Used in Hamlet. A pun on the word "cunt." One of the few dirty jokes in Shakespeare that high school kids immediately get.

Hamlet: Did you think I meant country matters?
