Bhang

South and Southeast Asian word for Marijuana, often associated with the word 'Ganja' or 'Kush'. Although 'Ganja' is a more colloquial term as its literal meaning refers to the Ghanga river in India/Pakistan/Bangladesh. And 'Kush' while meaning happy in Hindi and Sanskrit, it's meaning in 'OG Kush' refers to the Hindu Kush mountain range, the region where the seeds for the first American grown Indica (Cannabis that grows in south/central asia, hence India->Indica) were retrieved. 'Bhang' and its pronuncianted variations all along the Himalayas and foothill mountain ranges is the word for Cannabis throughout the countries around the Himalayas but also southeast asia. It is where the English word "Bong" comes from. As many of you may know, a bong is a glass tube that bubbles/percolates marijuana smoke through a downstem. Traditional bongs of southeast asia would be made of bamboo and look like modern straight tube bongs.
